There is no silver bullet for adding a slideshow to any theme unfortunately. Adding a slideshow/rotating banner can involve much subtle tweaking of theme files, css, and theme settings entries.
Also it will be different with each slideshow+theme combination, and there are literally hundreds of slideshow scripts to choose from.The best thing to do if you're no coder is to either pick a theme that already has the functionality (Caroline was nice enough to list them all) or post in the job board. I would imagine that a DIY on something like this would create a huge overhead in support for accidentally broken themes.
